Date Purchased: 08/ Overall Rating: 8/10 Flush Rating: 7/10 Ease of Installation: 4/10 " I bought the Toto toilet specifically to go with the Toto Washlet (bidet seat) We love the washlet! And the Vespin is sharp looking. The toilet is fine. However because of low water use in flush, must have a cleaning brush nearby as it does not get "streaks" clean with one flush. Installation was a bit tricky for my contractor. All in all, no other complaints, but for my other bathrooms, i doubt I would spend the extra $$ for the Toto product. "

Cons: impossible to reach seat bolts for tightening, if toilet is installed in a small, private 3-walled area. "

Date Purchased: 07/2008 Overall Rating: 10/10 Flush Rating: 10/10 Ease of Installation: 10/10 " This is my second Toto; I also have a Toto Carrollton which is in a different bathroom and which I reviewed previously. The Vespin is very good-looking, I really do like the skirt for appearance and ease of cleaning. My son installed the Vespin with its 14 inch rough-in; we were very careful to ensure that it would fit into the space because the water supply valve had been moved to the floor in a previous remodel. (The Vespin replaced a Gerber which never worked properly, used a lot more water and was ugly.) He had no problem with the installation and I am very happy both with the toilet and with his work. He installed three Totos in his own home and they are all working perfectly. Incidentally, I was amused by the last sentence in your product description which says, 'the Vespin is packaged with a set not included. . .' which is rather confusing. "

I replaced a second one with this one, and now we are building a new house with 5 totos! Love toto, love vespin. "

Never clogs and haven't had any problems from installation to daily usage this toilet is superb. I also enjoy the skirted syle and the seat height is perfect too! "
REVIEW by AFI PHOEBE, NY 3/3/2006
Date Purchased: 10/2005 Overall Rating: 8/10 Flush Rating: 10/10 Ease of Installation: 10/10 " Product in itself is cosmetically attractive; however, due to the design of its bowl, if the toilet is placed within its own privacy-three wall alcove, make sure there is adequate space to access comfortably behind and underneath with your hands to install the bolts provided after putting theseat on. If you do not, the directions can't help you once the toilet bowl is attached in place (in a narrow [within 6-8 inches from both the adjacent walls]alcove)-from following the directions, it is impossible to reach behind & underside to install the toilet seat and then the bolts provided. I also have a '56, 6 gal.Am. Standard or Gerber toilet in another bathroom. It has a consealed trapway too and it is very easy to access underside to change the seat or tighten it. So, I did have a challenge trying to put the seat on, otherwise the toilet is quite, quick and quiet attractive. "

Date Purchased: 11/2005 Overall Rating: 10/10 Flush Rating: 10/10 Ease of Installation: 8/10 " Whem my wife & I decided to renovate the master bath the toilet replacement was big on my list. It seems that I had to have a plunger next to every toilet we had in the home, & we did not want a ugly plunger in our newly remodeled bathroom. So the research for the best toilet out there began. Although I never heard of toto, my research showed it was the best toilet on the market, and after using it for three months I do not have to have a plunger next to it. "

Date Purchased: 08/2005 Overall Rating: 10/10 Flush Rating: 10/10 Ease of Installation: 10/10 " Great product. My rough in plumber installed the flange to close to the wall so luckly Toto had the adapter to allow a close to the wall install. Product came in damaged even with the great packaging job, but PerformanceToilets.com and Toto took care of the problem immediately. "

Date Purchased: 07/2005 Overall Rating: 10/10 Flush Rating: 10/10 Ease of Installation: 10/10 " I purchased my first Vespin toilet as a test to see if I wanted to purchase this model for the new house my wife and I were building last year. We were so impressed we purchased four more for our new house. I really like the way Toto does their installation. A plastic installation fitting attaches directly to the closet flange on the floor. This allows the installer to be very precise in landing on the wax ring and minimizes the possibility for leaks in this area. Once this fitting is installed the Toto mates with the installation fixture using a rubber coupling about a foot off the floor. It all worked very well from my perspective. It is very well engineered and much easier than target shooting the toilet on the wax ring like every other toilet I've ever installed. Note that the supply lines must be about 8 inch off center from the flange versus a standard of 6 inch or so. Otherwise the toilet will interfere with the functioning of the shut-off valve. This spacing confused the plumbers in our new house. Despite my explicit instructions and documentation, they did the rough plumbing to the standard 6 inch and when I discovered it much later in the build cycle, they had to open up walls and replumb the supply lines. Plan well and watch the plumbers! It is so easy when they do it right the first time. In terms of operation, we have been totally satisfied. We had one son who was particularly challenging to our old plumbing fixtures, shall we say. This was the reason for our test run in our old house. To my knowledge none of us has ever needed to use the plunger on our Totos. I don't think we even have a plunger in any of our bathrooms now. I'm truly impressed and totally satisfied with this toilet and hearily recommend Totos to everyone. "

Date Purchased: 12/2005 Overall Rating: 9/10 Flush Rating: 9/10 Ease of Installation: 8/10 " == OUR PREVIOUS LOW FLOW TOILETS DIDN'T WORK == When I purchased my house, it had two low flow toilets already installed in the upstairs bathrooms. We suffered with those low flow toilets for years, thinking that having to flush two or three times per use, half the time also having to make quick use of the plunger, was the price we had to pay for low flow toilets. Since there are ordinances forbidding the installation of regular flow toilets, I didn't think we had any other choice. ==RESEARCH SHOWED THAT WE HAD OPTIONS== However, when getting ready to put new flooring in those two bathrooms, I did some research and found that not all low-flow toilets are made alike. Some, or so the claim was, were properly designed and engineered so that they would flush the first time and not clog so often. ==WE DECIDED ON TOTO BASED ON OTHER REVIEWS== After reading reviews at various Web sites, I settled on the Toto brand (though apparently there is a Consumer Reports study that I missed "
